Binghamton High School senior Hunt Chio has been named recipient of this year's prestigious Patriot Scholarship. Jeff Loew, an attorney who represents the anonymous donor that supports the scholarship, surprised Hunt with the news on Wednesday. Hunt's father and sisters joined him at the high school as he learned he was selected for the $12,500 award.
The Patriot Scholarship has been awarded each year for more than three decades to a Binghamton High School senior who is in the top 100 students in their class, demonstrates good attendance, and has made positive contributions to their school. Hunt will receive the $5,000 during his first year of college, and $2,500 annually for the following three years.

Hunt not only excels in the classroom with a 103.6 GPA, but is also involved in a number of extracurricular activities. He is a member of National Honor Society, Vice President of Science Honor Society, Secretary of Math Honor Society, a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, President of the Asian Cultural Club, Vice President of Chess Club, and a member of Technology Club, Mathletes, Science Club, and Youth Environmental Society. He is also a track & field and volleyball athlete.
Congratulations, Hunt, on being awarded the Patriot Scholarship!
