A Binghamton High School junior has been recognized for her outstanding achievement in the 90th annual National French Contest. Tatev Dadian was recently awarded a Silver Medal for the distinction of placing 12th nationally in competition in which more than 46 thousand students entered. Dadian is a student in Dr. Diane Phelps’ International Baccalaureate French IV class.
Le Grand Concours is a prestigious competition sponsored annually by the American Association of Teachers of French. French student-competitors take a rigorous exam to evaluate written, oral, and listening comprehension skills. In addition to scoring among the top 6% in the nation, Dadian has been presented with the prestigious “Le Prix Vada Mowry” for winning first place in New York State’s Central Region--an award given to BHS student Colin McGovern last year.
