Lou ferraro, Fred Seymour, Dave Cody

Some well-known figures in Binghamton City School District athletic history are being recognized for their numerous contributions and achievements over the years.

On April 29, longtime BCSD baseball coach Lou Ferraro and Binghamton High School graduate Fred Seymour Jr. were inducted into the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame. Additionally, BHS Track and Cross Country Coach Dave Cody will be inducted into the Section IV Sports Hall of Fame on May 11.

Lou Ferarro coached Binghamton baseball teams for more than 20 years, notching 316 wins for the program. He led Binghamton’s baseball teams to the final four in the state championship on two occasions.

Fred Seymour Jr. was a force to be reckoned with on Ferraro's teams in the mid -1980s, being named to STAC All-Division and All-Conference teams in 1986 & 1987. He was also a member of the Rollins College baseball team during their run in the Division II College World Series. Later in life, Seymour served as Major League Baseball’s Director of Minor League Operations

Dave Cody has coached the Binghamton track and cross country teams since 1985. During his time with the district, he has coached 57 Section IV champions, five New York State champions, and four federation individual or relay team champions. Additionally, he has coached several Section IV and Southern Tier Athletic Conference indoor and outdoor track record holders.
