The Binghamton City School District's music program is well-represented at the annual Broome County Music Educators Association's (BCMEA) festival. Forty-eight students from Binghamton performed during the first two weekends of the festival which brings the top student-musicians in the County together as part of a celebration of Music in Our Schools Month. BCSD was also represented by a staff member at this year's festival when MacArthur & West Middle Orchestra teacher Laura Hine served as conductor for the BCMEA 5th & 6th Grade orchestra.
Students performed at the Binghamton University Anderson Center with peers from across Broome County. To earn a selection to the BCMEA festival, student-musicians had to audition on various music scales and excerpts.
