BHS Will Host 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner

Organizers of the Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner at Binghamton High School are making preparations for this year’s annual event, now in its 22nd consecutive year.  With the expansion of the dining room and continuation of a shuttle bus service (courtesy of First Student), BHS can accommodate more guests and assist those with transportation concerns. Home delivery and “take home” meals will not be available.

The dinner is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23 at the Binghamton High School’s two cafeterias.

“We are pleased that we can continue to host the Thanksgiving Dinner at Binghamton High School.” said Binghamton High School Principal, Kevin J. Richman “Our BHS students make this event possible as they assist with everything from the planning and fundraising to the clean-up at the end of the day. This is a special opportunity to come together as a community in support of each other.”

The dinner is possible because of community donations and fundraising by the students of the Binghamton High School National Honor Society.  Each year, BHS students, staff and others spend the holiday preparing and serving a full-course Thanksgiving dinner to thousands of local residents.

Again, as initiated last year, individuals, businesses and area organizations will be able to sponsor a table at the cost of $250.

School officials are working with First Student to continue shuttle-bus options with plans to set pick-up and drop-off points at convenient locations around the city.

“We are thrilled that FIRST STUDENT has generously donated their busses and that their professional driver employees are spending a part of their holiday to assist those with transportation concerns so they may celebrate Thanksgiving at Binghamton High School” Richman said.

Buses will start at 11 a.m. followed with a continuous shuttle to and from Binghamton High School until 1:30 p.m. when busses will leave the high school for returns only.
