This evening, a number of students and parents have reported to the district an anonymous shooting threat toward "bhs students." The threat was distributed through the mobile messaging app Snapchat by a local student who knew the reference in the threat was made toward a "bhs" that was not Binghamton High School. We take threats very seriously and reported the incident to the Binghamton Police Department.

The Binghamton Police discovered that an identical post was received in other areas of the country with schools having the same "BHS" initials. The post was originally written by a student attending a high school in New Mexico, who admitted to posting the threat and was arrested. We would like to thank the students and families who reported the incident, so that we were able to identify its origin. Here is the link to the national story about the hoax.
