Thank You for a Successful School Budget Vote

BCSD School Budget Passes by 85 Percent
Posted on 05/16/2018
On behalf of the Binghamton City School District board of education, administration, faculty, staff and students, I would like to thank all of the voters who came out yesterday to vote for the 2018-2019 school budget and board of education candidates. Congratulations to Mr. Brian Whalen who was re-elected to serve on the board of education for another term. Also thank you to all who expressed interest in taking on this vitally important leadership role.

Despite the bad weather and even the threat of tornadoes, 934 voters came out to the polls and the budget passed by 85 percent majority. This margin is a clear indicator of the overwhelming support of the community (See results here). I believe it reflects a community-wide belief in the potential for success we face in the year ahead. I would also like to thank those voters who participated in the exit survey. Nearly 65 percent of voters took the time to let us know what influenced their vote. We will use this anonymous information to improve communications around the development of the annual budget in the future.

I believe that all of Binghamton shares a common commitment to help each and every one of our students to achieve success – today, tomorrow, at graduation, and in the years that follow. It is an exciting time to be part of the BCSD. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to education and the district. Together we make this strong!

With Patriot Pride
