Important Information about Kindergarten Registration
Posted on 05/22/2020
In order to for your child to be registered for Kindergarten, you must do the following as soon as possible:
1. Sign and return a form confirming that your child will attend Kindergarten in the Binghamton City School District. (a drop box is also located at 98 Oak Street
2. Review the address, phone number, and emergency contact information we have on file and submit necessary changes in the return envelope. If you have moved, please provide one proof of address.
3. Please include a copy of your child’s current immunizations, as required by the New York State Department of Health. Proof of immunization can be faxed to (607) 762-8142.
If your child does not have all the needed immunizations, please note the following:
● Within 14 days of the first day of school– children must receive the first age-appropriate dose in each immunization series to attend or remain in school.
● Within 30 days after the first day of school – parents or guardians must show that they have appointments for the next required follow-up doses for their child. Deadlines for follow-up doses depend on the vaccine.
● More information on immunizations is available at:
https://www.health.ny.gov/prevention/immunization/schools/school_vaccines/
I also encourage you to regularly engage with your child in the learning activities that your child’s teacher is providing. This will provide a routine and will to continue to lay a strong foundation of skills to help them be
successful in Kindergarten. Teachers will be required to report student progress, so the more often your child engages, the better.
Please call or email Carol Majka if you have questions about registration at (607) 762-8114 or majkac@binghamtonschools.org . Thank you!
