21st Annual BHS Thanksgiving Community Dinner Announced
Organizers of the Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner at Binghamton High School are making preparations for this year’s annual event, now in its 21st consecutive year. With the expansion of the dining room and continuation of a shuttle bus service (courtesy of First Student), we can accommodate more guests and assist those with transportation concerns. Home delivery and “take home” meals will not be available. 
NY State Senate Sponsoring Thanksgiving Contest for Kids in K-6
Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and the New York State Senate is sponsoring a creative celebration for children in grades K-6. The theme is 'What are you thankful for?' Students can submit an original poem, one-page essay, or artwork expressing what they are thankful for in the past year. Students must submit electronically, preferably in jpg or pdf format via www.akshar.nysenate.gov. 
Three New Administrators Approved at BOE Meeting
At last night's board of education meeting three new administrators were added to the district. Velvet Tanner was named the new director of special services. Tanner has served in the district in various capacities over the past 15 years. She has been a special educator and most recently served as the collaborative coach for Thomas Jefferson. She will begin her new role on Oct. 26. Shelly Richards was named the new assistant principal at MacArthur and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. 
West Middle School Students Take a Leaf Walk at Nature Preserve
On a beautiful Saturday morning, more than 20 students and parents of Mr. Zapach’s West Middle School 7th grade science classes met at the Binghamton University Nature Preserve for two hours of leaf collecting and autumn explorations.  
False Reports of Clown Sightings in Binghamton
Some of our students are reporting information from Facebook and other social media sites that there are 'Creepy Clowns' or 'Killer Clowns' roaming the streets trying to lure children into the woods or threatening to do them harm. The Binghamton Police Department has confirmed that there have been no sightings of clowns in Binghamton and that it is part of a viral internet hoax.  
MacArthur Construction Updates
On April 15, 2013 the residents of the Binghamton city School District overwhelmingly approved, by public referendum vote, the construction of a new facility to replace the Macarthur elementary school which was lost in the 2011 flood.
