MacArthur Chorus Sings at Senators Hockey Game
The MacArthur Chorus had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the Binghamton Senators hockey game on Dec. 17. Way to go! 
Elementary Students Celebrate Human Rights Day
Students at MacArthur Elementary marked World Human Rights Day last week by reciting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.The declaration was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948 following World War II.The 30 rights include an education, food and shelter, freedom of expression and even the right to play.Watch the story on WIVT 
MacArthur Students Learn About North America in a Big Way
Students at Binghamton's MacArthur Elementary are getting a larger-than-life lesson in geography. Librarian Lonna Pierce has secured National Geographic's Traveling World Map for two weeks. The giant map is displayed on the hallway floor for students to crawl on and learn more about the world. The map is of North America and measures at 35x26 feet. 'Repack the Backpack' Provides Food for Students Over Holiday Break
Over the holiday break many Binghamton City School District students who depend on their schools to provide breakfast and lunch may go hungry. However, thanks to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and the Broome County Child Hunger Task Force these students will get a backpack filled with food for over the holiday break.   
False Solicitations for Thanksgiving Dinner
 The Binghamton City School District has received reports of young people soliciting door-to-door for donations to support the Binghamton High School Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DISTRICT DOES NOT SOLICIT DOOR-TO-DOOR FOR THIS EVENT. The district DOES seek support for this event BY MAIL and from select community partners, however, we repeat that NO DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLICITATION is conducted for this event. 
MacArthur Construction Updates
On April 15, 2013 the residents of the Binghamton city School District overwhelmingly approved, by public referendum vote, the construction of a new facility to replace the Macarthur elementary school which was lost in the 2011 flood.
