Join the PTA or Booster Club and Make a Difference
The recent movie ‘Bad Moms’ portrays PTA members as overzealous, domineering women who plan elaborate bake sales. Binghamton PTA Council President Laura Warwick and Binghamton High School PTSA President Jennifer Taylor said these stereotypes can hamper parent participation. Besides – it’s just not true. Today’s PTA is your opportunity, as a parent or caregiver, to make a difference in the lives of children. 
September is Attendance Awareness Month
The Binghamton City School District is stressing the importance of good attendance. It has pledged to raise awareness on the value of attending school regularly and the importance of reducing chronic absenteeism. This as it joins a nationwide effort to celebrate Attendance Awareness Month this September. Watch the story on WICZ and TWC 
First Day of School
The Binghamton City School District will kick off the 2016-2017 school year with TWO superintendent's conference days on Sept. 6 and 7. The first day of classes for students in grades pre-K - 5 (all elementary schools) and 9-12 (high school) is Thursday, September 8. East and West Middle Schools are exceptions and will report as follows: Students in grade 6 will start on Sept. 8 but should NOT report on Friday, Sept. 9. Students in grades 7 and 8 should NOT report on Sept. 8; they will start on Friday, Sept. 9. All students will report on Monday, Sept. 12.  
Teachers Learn How to Engage Students in Project Lead the Way Launch
Binghamton is ramping up its Elementary Project Lead the Way implementation. More than 40 teachers from grades K-2 are undergoing training this summer. PLTW Launch allows students to become problem solvers. Students use structured approaches, like the engineering design process, and employ critical thinking. 
Students Learn Math With Fun and Games
From the colorful mats on the gym floor to the hopping and skipping children; you would never guess that they were learning math. The Binghamton City School District has been trying a new strategy to help children get excited about math.  Watch the video on our YouTube channel 
MacArthur Construction Updates
On April 15, 2013 the residents of the Binghamton city School District overwhelmingly approved, by public referendum vote, the construction of a new facility to replace the Macarthur elementary school which was lost in the 2011 flood.
