Horace Mann Students March in Annual Halloween Parade

Students at Horace Mann Elementary in Binghamton got to exercise their costumes Monday with the school's annual Halloween parade around the block. As always, princesses, fairies and super heroes are popular. More current costumes include Minecraft and emojis. Many of the teachers wore jerseys of their favorite football players. 21st Annual BHS Thanksgiving Community Dinner Announced
Organizers of the Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner at Binghamton High School are making preparations for this year’s annual event, now in its 21st consecutive year. With the expansion of the dining room and continuation of a shuttle bus service (courtesy of First Student), we can accommodate more guests and assist those with transportation concerns. Home delivery and “take home” meals will not be available. 
Come out for Family Fun at Fall Festival at Walnut Street Park
Enjoy a Fall Festival at Walnut Street Park on Oct. 26 from 4 - 6:30 p.m. There will be music, dancing, pumpkins, treats and crafts. The event is free on open to the community.  Catering will be provided by Muffers.  For more information on the Fall Festival contact FallFestWalnut@gmail.com 
NY State Senate Sponsoring Thanksgiving Contest for Kids in K-6
Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and the New York State Senate is sponsoring a creative celebration for children in grades K-6. The theme is 'What are you thankful for?' Students can submit an original poem, one-page essay, or artwork expressing what they are thankful for in the past year. Students must submit electronically, preferably in jpg or pdf format via www.akshar.nysenate.gov. 
Three New Administrators Approved at BOE Meeting
At last night's board of education meeting three new administrators were added to the district. Velvet Tanner was named the new director of special services. Tanner has served in the district in various capacities over the past 15 years. She has been a special educator and most recently served as the collaborative coach for Thomas Jefferson. She will begin her new role on Oct. 26. Shelly Richards was named the new assistant principal at MacArthur and Roosevelt Elementary Schools.
