East Middle School Library/Media Center services over 700 students and staff. It is one of two Middle Schools in the Binghamton City School District. The Library Media Center has over 12,000 books and 50 audio books as well as DVDs etc. because of a large grant that this library received in the 2008-09 called "Improving Literacy Through School Libraries". In addition, we have 15 desktop computers, a laptop cart with 24 laptop computers, CD players, a small DVD player for one student to watch a DVD, 6 digital cameras, 6 video cameras and peripherals for this equipment. The Library is a very busy place servicing these many students and their teachers. All of this is due to the support of the administration of the district. In addition to learning how to use the Library and doing wonderful projects, the students learn to take responsibility for the materials and the importance of caring for them. |
