The literacy program is a comprehensive plan which includes shared reading from Reading Street, guided reading from leveled readers, and independent reading with 100 Book Challenge, read alouds, as well as guided and independent writing. Students also learn cursive handwriting in third grade!
The math curriculum is presented using enVison Math as well as other supplemental materials to help the children understand number operations, geometry, data and measurement. In third grade the children are expected to learn and memorize the multiplication and division facts through 12x12.
The science curriculum covers science inquiry. The content includes weather, matter, sound, plant, and animals. The students will end the year by researching, writing, illustrating, and publishing a hard cover book about an animal.
Third grade social studies explores geography, mapping, economics, and cultures.
