A physical examination is required by law for every new student entering school. BCSD also requires a physical for all children entering pre-K, kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 7th and 10th grades, as well as students in special placements. Parents have the option of using a walk-in clinic, private or family physician, or the school's physician.
Medical Examination Forms must be returned to the student's school by Oct. 1st. If the form is not returned, a school physcial will be scheduled.
A law recently enacted in NYS requires school districts to request a dental certificate from each student. This
Dental Certificate is available for you to take to your child's dentist and return the completed form to your child's school nurse or nurse-teacher. The form will be filed as part of your child's Cumulative Health Record. While we encourage you to do this, returning the Dental Certificate is optional.
