Calling All Volunteers... We Need You!

Volunteering at MacArthur presents a great opportunity to make contacts, understand the cirriculum and meet staff.  Our school has multiple needs and there are several ways listed below to volunteer.  The best way for you to help out depends on who you want to have contact with, what your talents are and how much time you can contribute.  Don't be afraid to take that first step, you'll probably love volunteering.  Please contact MacArthur at 762-8180 or by email to lengap@binghamtonschools.org if you are interested in volunteering.

Join The PTA - A great group of parents, guardians, teachers, and the principal working together in a relaxed atmosphere listening, brainstorming, organizing, and fundraising to make MacArthur a better school for the students.

Volunteer within the Classroom - This is a great way to see your child and her teacher in action.  You may get a great new perspective on your child's strengths and weaknesses, even if you are working with other students in the class.  Observe first hand what kind of environment the teacher establishes in the classroom.

Reading/Literacy - A child's reading skills are important to their success in school and work.  Becoming a Reading Buddy can make reading fun and educational for children and open new worlds for them.

Work in the Office - Assist the office staff as needed.

Library - Assist the librarian as needed.

Lunchtime Monitor - Assist students' needs at lunchtime.  Help with cafeteria cleanup.

Environmental Beautification - Assist with indoor and outdoor school beautification.
