Exactly what is a Gradeparent?

Did you know that you could be a gradeparent in your child's classroom? A gradeparent helps the teacher plan and organize parties and field trips for the class.  Parties can include Halloween, Thanksgiving,  Christmas,  Valentine's Day,  St. Patrick's Day, and a Picnic.  Field trips include the Ross Park Zoo and Bowling (Kindergarten),  Cole Park Picnic (1st Grade),  Syracuse Zoo (2nd Grade),  Syracuse Sciencecenter/IMAX Theatre (3rd Grade),  Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse (4th Grade), and Philadelphia (5th Grade).

As a gradeparent, you could help by planning the party, or by sending in party supplies, or by making phone calls to other gradeparents, or assisting on class trips.  Anyway you are able to contribute is always greatly appreciated by the students and teachers!

The PTA holds a "Gradeparent Tea" in the school cafeteria at the beginning of each new school year, to give the teachers and gradeparents a comfortable atmosphere to plan the parties and field trips for the whole school year.  Delicious refreshments are served!  Feel free to bring your children.
