2010-2013 Board of Education Goals
• Improve the Five Year graduation rate for all students. – The five year graduation rate for all students at BHS will improve by 3% per year for three years to achieve the target of 80% of all BHS students graduating by August of the 2012-13 school year. (Goal may be revised following release of most recent graduation rate data) – The five year graduation rate for all students in the District will improve by 3% per year for three years to achieve the target of 80% of all District students graduating by August of the 2012-13 school year. (Goal may be revised following release of the most recent graduation rate data) • Ensure a safe and secure environment for learning by improving student responsibility. – Reduce the number of suspensions for all students, without lowering expectations for behavior, by 10% per year for three years to achieve the target of a 30% reduction in suspensions by the end of the 2012-13 school year. • Reduce course failures in grades 6 -12 by 10% per year for three years to achieve the target of 30% reduction in course failures by the end of the 2012-13 school year. • Improve the literacy rate of students in grades PreK-5. – Increase the number of students in grades PreK-5 who are reading on grade level by 10% per year for three years to achieve the target of a 30% improvement by the end of the 2012-13 school year. • Increase student engagement through community service, service learning, participation in extra-curricular or co-curricular activities to achieve the target of 100% engagement of students, grades PreK-12, in at least one of these activities by the end of the 2012-13 school year.
