Meet George. George is our library monkey who keeps his eye on everyone and everything. He has been known to cause a lot of problems (ask Mrs. Distins's students about the bears' sleepover). He also offers love and friendshi p to anyone who cares to hold him.

Besides George, we have many other stuffed animals in the library. They all have a job. They serve as our place markers. I can tell a student, who wants an I spy book, for example, to go the black gorilla, count down 3 shelves and find the middle of the shelf. He will have no trouble finding the books he wants.

Along with our animals we have a great many plants in the library too. Our windows have a southern exposure so the plants grow extremely well. We have cacti, poinsetta plants (that will rebloom), ferns and even a three foot avocado plant that we started from a seed two years ago. We have been known to lend our plants out to classrooms when they do their plant unit in science.
