B Logo BCSD Students Will Participate in Acts of Solidarity for Parkland Fla.
In light of the most recent school shooting tragedy in Parkland, Fla., students across the nation have been finding constructive ways to deal with this horrific event.  As you may have read or heard, there has been a call to students to participate in a 17-minute national school walkout on Wed, March 14 at 10 a.m., which marks the one-month anniversary of the tragic shootings that took place at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. As educators, it is our role is to help teach our students how to actively engage in civic conversations and the importance of being engaged in our democratic process.
B Logo BCSD School Safety Message
We are deeply saddened by the tragic news from Florida. As educators and as parents, it is difficult to comprehend such catastrophic events. We feel closely connected to the children, teachers and staff, families and community who were so devastated by this loss of innocent lives. I want to reassure you that we take school safety and security very seriously across the Binghamton City School District. We are vigilant and proactive when it comes to our children's safety and have clear plans and procedures to deal with emergency situations. We will look to learn what we can from this latest school tragedy and use that information over the coming weeks to determine what, if any, improvements can be made in security and response procedures.
P T S A Award BCSD PTSA Earns Award from NYS PTA
Congratulations to the BCSD PTSA which was awarded the 2017 Alumni/Community Badge from the New York State PTA. The PTSA earned this honor by having at least 15% of members be alumni or community members. This is a wonderful achievement that shows how much members in our community have embraced and supported the BCSD!
Budget Survey BCSD Seeks Input for 2018-2019 Budget
It’s that time of year when the Binghamton City School District starts looking at the numbers for the upcoming 2018-2019 school budget. Part of the process of putting together a budget for the district is gathering input from our stakeholders, like parents, community members and staff. We want to know what is important to you and your family.  Make your voices heard, fill out a quick budget survey and let us know what you think. There will also be an opportunity to share your input at a community round table budget meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 9 at the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton.

B Logo BCSD Seeks to Improve Communication through Family Engagement Task Force
The district is creating a Family Engagement Task Force and would like your input. We realize that the only way to improve engagement, communication and collaboration is to listen and learn from our families as to what we can do better to support them. The Task Force will meet three times this year and anticipate the first meeting to be held in February 2018. We would like some input on the location and times that work best for families. We will also use this information as we plan future events. We appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey and hope you are interested and able to join us. Thank you.
