Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year
Dear Patriot Family,
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I hope you had an opportunity to enjoy the summer and spend quality time with your family. We have been working diligently to ensure that the building is ready to open on the first day of school. The Patriot Pride running through the building is infectious as we prepare to welcome back our staff and students. As I begin my first year as principal of Binghamton High School, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our students. We can accomplish this by setting high expectations for both students and staff, working collaboratively, and celebrating diversity. My goal is that all our students will graduate and go on to be college and/or career ready. During the school year, we shall look to continue to expand upon the great foundation that has been established here at Binghamton High School. I am committed to embracing the past yet moving forward to help shape our future. I am excited to work with the amazing staff members of Binghamton High School. They are dedicated and hardworking people. Together we will educate, empower and challenge all students.
I want to take this opportunity to further share my beliefs on education:
• All students have the right to equal access to all educational opportunities.
• Diversity enriches both the individual and the greater community..
• A quality education is comprised of teaching the whole child.
• Higher expectations yield higher results.
• Everyone is accountable for their own actions.
• All decisions are made based on the best interests of the student.
• Students achieve more with structure and discipline.
• All students will graduate and be college and/or career ready.
• Improving the quality of our school is a collaborative approach involving all stakeholders.
• All students will strive for mastery.
• Nothing can be accomplished without calculated risk.
• Failure is not an option.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." Here at Binghamton High School we shall promote strong academic skills while at the same time teaching our students to be of high moral character. In an effort to help teach the whole child, we have added a School Safety team to our staff.
They will help to ensure our school is secure at all times, as well as be role models and mentors to our students. They will be clearly identified by a uniform. I am excited to work with this dynamic group and would ask that you please welcome them to our Patriot family.
Below are a few important tips and reminders as well as some new building procedures for the upcoming school year:
