Transportation Overview
Transportation – provided by First Student

To qualify for district-provided transportation, students must meet the following requirements based on the walking distance from home to school:

Grades K-5: 1 Mile

Grades 6-8: 1.5 Miles

Grades 9-12: 2 Miles

For transportation questions or problems, please call pupil services at 762-8118.  If you are moving, please bring proof of your new address to the student’s school or to pupil services at 98 Oak Street.  It will generally take two business days to process changes, but it may take longer during the first few weeks of the school year.  The routes will run as published in the Heritage for the first two weeks of school.

Transportation services are a privilege that can be suspended or revoked if actions by the child create a safety hazard or endanger other passengers.

For safety purposes, video cameras have been installed on some of our buses.  This has been found to be an effective way to improve behavior on buses.

Be aware that students will be dropped off at bus stops whether parents are at the stop or not.  In the event that you are not at the stop to meet your child when they get off the bus, it is a good idea to have a backup plan and discuss it with your child.

To obtain transportation to childcare, a request form must be completed before each school year.  Please bring or mail your completed form to Pupil Services, 98 Oak Street, Binghamton, NY 13905.  If you have any questions, you may call 762-8118.

Requests received after August 15th may not be processed in time for the start of the school year.

Bus Pass Information:
All high school and middle school students who qualify for busing must have a picture for their bus pass. If the student had their picture taken with the professional photographer in the fall of the previous year, we will have the bus pass already made.  In case a student is new or missed having their picture taken, they can go to their attendance office to find out how to have a picture taken.

For students in Grades 5 and below, non-photo I.D.s are sent by the District Transportation Office to the individual elementary schools to be handed out in September to eligible students.

If you have moved, please bring proof of address to 98 Oak Street. You will then be notified whether the new address qualifies the student as being eligible for busing.
